The tourism market has become very fiercely competitive. As the competition becomes tougher the messages gets less and less coherent. Tourism destinations engage in voice competition creating a “me-too” marketing campaign. What does our destination stands for? What feelings and emotions are we transmitting? What images comes to the tourist’s mind when he or she thinks about our destination? These questions are needed to be answered while attracting the tourist for the North East India.
Tourist destinations need branding. Brands are a set of values and ideas. Brands attach an emotional value to any destination. Tourism is about living experiences and feeling new There is  and because of this tourism destinations needs to be branded. This book will help in creating awareness about the added value of the effective brand of design, development and management of tourist destinations.
North East India is situated in easternmost part of India surrounded by the mighty Himalayas, the plains of Bangladesh and hills of Myanmar. The region consists of eight states each representing a multitude of diverse culture and heritage. The region has a large number of tribes rich in their unique culture and heritage, as well as a large number of dialects. The entire region is full of green and scenic beauty. The region boasts for the Two National Parks as well as regarded as one of the 25 biodiversity hotspots in the world. The regions is marked by the lush green semi-tropical forests, the famous one-horned rhino, wild buffalo, elephants, brow antlered deer etc. Many endangered species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the region.

About the Editor:
L.S. Sharma (b. 1968) MCom and PhD (Manipur University), MBA (IGNOU), FDPM (IIMA) is currently working as Professor of Marketing and IT in Department of Management, Mizoram University. Before joining Mizoram University, he has worked in Sherubtse College under the Royal University of Bhutan as senior lecturer. He has published a book and 27 research papers in national and international journals. In the last eight years, he has been attending and participating in more than 30 national and international seminars and conferences as paper presenter, discussant, rapporteur and chaired several technical sessions. His areas of interest are in Marketing (specially in Consumer Behaviour, Service Marketing, E-Marketing) and Information Technology (specially in Management Information System and E-Business). He was awarded National B-School Awards-2013 (Best Professor Teaching Marketing Management) by ABP News (formerly Star News). Currently he is the co-ordinator of Career Counselling Cell as well as Equal Opportunity Cell of Mizoram University.
